How much Meat are you consuming?

It's no secret, we all know that nutrition is essential for us to survive.  As such, we need amino acids and protein for "cell growth, tissue repair, and overall health".  There has been a lot of talk about plant-based diets. These discussions and the Netflix documentaries such as Forks over Knives; The Game Changer; and What the Health makes us all wonder "Should we stop eating meat"?

We have been taught that we need meat to gain the necessary protein that our bodies need.  However, it has been studied and determined that the animals that we consume, such as cows, pigs, and chickens get their protein from plants which is passed on to us when we consume it.  These animals are just the middlemen that help to provide the protein to us if we consume it.

So, why do we need the middle man when we can get it directly from plants? It's been proven that individuals that consume a plant-based diet have clearer/cleaner blood with less fat, less inflammation, and their body is more successful in healing itself.  If you haven't already, take a look at these documentaries.  They will make you start the internal discussion with yourself about the consumption of meat. If nothing else, you can cut back on how much meat you consume. Try not to eat meat for every meal.  Take certain days out of the week where you have a plant-based diet.  Also, you can take on the challenge of not eating meat for an extended time like a week, a couple of weeks, or even a month or a couple of months. Recently Oprah Winfrey took on a 30-day plant-based diet challenge. Try it and tell me how you feel.

Are you going to take on the challenge?
