How are you Quarantining?

Are you getting cabin fever? Feeling restless and sometimes bored?  Are you watching television shows over and over or is the television watching you?  Here are some ideas for you to think about.  Whether you are confined to your home because you’ve been exposed to COVID-19 and are required to quarantine for 14 days or simply ordered to not go out of the house by your state; take this time to set up a plan that will help you to feel productive during this time.

Establish and initiate a regimen that you can continue after the quarantine ends.  This should be a regimen focusing on you having a healthier and more fulfilling life.  Think about the things that you want to improve in your world.  During the normal hustle and bustle of life, it’s sometimes hard to have a routine that you can stick to without falling off track.  Now that 97% of America is under a “Stay-at-home” order, here is your time to fix that.  Consider establishing rituals for yourself.  Some examples:

  1. Morning Routine: I started a morning routine that consists of a 5-10-minute thankyou prayer to GOD for all of my current and future blessings. I take about 15-20 minutes for stretching, doing some upper body cardio, and dry brushing to keep my lymph nodes active.  To keep my motivational momentum, I listen to morning motivation podcasts on YouTube while I make my bed, shower, and get dressed.  For breakfast, I prepare a shake which includes fresh fruit, vegetables, vitamins as well as collagen and alkaline vegetable powders.
  2. Mental & Spiritual Health: Take at least 20–30 minutes of your day to reflect on your day and be present with what is happening around you. The idea of working from home is giving us more time to spend with our families while also exercising the passion we all have for getting our jobs done.  Take some time to meditate and just enjoy the memories and emotions that you are feeling.
  3. Exercise Regimen: Take 30 minutes out of your day to enhance your physical health. Take a walk in the neighborhood. Pull out those exercise tapes and put them to use.  Tune into YouTube and check out the exercise videos.  If you have Xfinity as your cable provider, just say “Exercise” into your remote and check out all of the exercise options available. You can also start an exercise challenge with your friends & family. This is a good time to reevaluate what you are eating and establishing an exercise regimen.
  4. Giving Back: More than 6.6M people have filed for unemployment within the last week. That said, the food banks need help servicing our neighbors.  This may be a chance for you to volunteer. Please be safe about it. Wear your masks, take your gloves and frequently use your hand sanitizer. 💞 We are all in this together. 💞

Consider Journaling to document your thoughts while you are sitting still.  I’m sure you have several thoughts racing through your mind while we all have this massive amount of time to think!  Use this to your advantage.  These thoughts are probably things that you haven’t been able to do that you’d like to do. During and after the quarantine there may be some ideas that you can materialize.  And if nothing else, this will be a document of your thoughts and emotions during an unsettled and/or anxious time in your life.

Challenge Yourself to embark on a new venture. Have you thought about writing a book?  What about writing a business plan to start a business?  Is there a concept or idea that you have that you want to research?  Is there an online class that you’ve considered taking that is available and open for registration? Do you know where you want to be in 5 – 10 – 15 years from now?  This is a great time to focus on these types of things. Refocus your thoughts and put your intelligence to work!

These are all ideas that you can start now or enhance so that you have a proven plan in place that you should continue after the stay at home order is lifted.  So, get focused and you'll see that you are just as busy as you were before you started quarantining.
